Grace Gibbs

Grace Virginia Grimes Young Gibbs, 88, of Forest Drive, died Thursday, June 29, 2006 at Lexington Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. Derek Boggs. Burial will be in Lexington City Cemetery. Mrs. Gibbs was born July 15, 1917, to Thomas Franklin Grimes and Ora Elizabeth Dorsett Grimes. She was a retired employed of The Dispatch with more than 20 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Oliver Lee "O.L." Young, who died in 1952; her second husband, Wade Sherrill Gibbs who died March 1, 1997; two brothers; and six sisters. Surviving are one son, Richard Lee Gibbs of the home; one daughter, Patricia Gibbs Merrill and her husband, R. Ben Jr. of Southport; two grandchildren, Cristina M. McGill and her husband, David, of Grays Lake, Ill., and Kevin B. Merrill and his wife, Marnie, of Round Rock, Texas; two great-granddaughters, Alexa Merrill and Lindsey Merrill; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, P.O.
