Grace Conaway Hopkins

Grace Conaway Hopkins, 92, formerly of Lewes, Del., entered into the Lord’s presence on Sunday, November 13, 2011. The funeral service and interment will be held in Delaware later this week, however, the family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2011. Mrs. Hopkins was born May 19, 1919, in Sussex County, Del., to Olivette Baker Conaway and Fred Tolbert Conaway, the eldest of four daughters. She was a member of Conley’s Methodist Church, Lewes, where she has taught Sunday school, was a member of the adult choir and women’s organization, and served on various committees within the church. While living in Lexington, she thoroughly enjoyed attending Coggins Memorial Baptist Church. She was an Auxiliary member of the Gideons International and received great pleasure from her involvement in the Lord’s work. She was a member of Coolspring and Henlopen Granges for over 65 years, where she served in various capacities; and the Hollymount Homemakers Extension Club. She is predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Everett C. Hopkins; and a sister, Phyllis Mills. Surviving is a daughter, Judith H. Briggs and husband, Bobby G., of Lexington; sisters, Allene Richardson of Willards, Md., and Gladys Phillips of Georgetown, Del; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express appreciation for the wonderful care given to Grace by the staff of Lexington Health Care and Wake Forest Baptist Health - Lexington Medical Center.
