Grace Koontz Walser

Grace Koontz Walser, 93, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Lexington Memorial Hospital. A funeral service celebrating Grace's life will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Reeds United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Foster and the Rev. Dr. Jim Martin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She was born May 19, 1915, in the Arnold Community to McClellan and Ila Snider Koontz. She was a member of Reeds United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin R. Walser; twin brother Gray Koontz and two other brothers, Howard and Wade Koontz; and two half-sisters, Mildred Manors and Daphne Swing. Grace is survived by one sister, Sula Jones; daughters Marilyn Craver and her husband, David, and Penny Bailey and her husband, Ricky; son W. Max Walser and his wife, Peggy; six grandchildren, Ryan Bailey, Tonte Craver and his wife, Terry, Mitzi Tysinger and her husband, Patrick, Phillip Craver, Wes Walser and his wife, Joy, Lee Melomo and her husband, Vinnie; nine great-grandchildren, Alex Craver and his wife, Amy, Andrea Craver, Brooke and Jordan Stogner, Elizabeth Tysinger, Seth Craver, Chase Hurt, Will and Sam Walser and Nicholas Melomo. Visitation with the family will be held in the church fellowship hall one hour prior to the church service. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of daughter Marilyn Craver. Memorials may be made to Reeds United Methodist Church Choir Fund, 4731 W. Old Highway 64, Lexington, NC 27295. The family would like to thank the staff of Lexington Memorial Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Grace during her illness. A special thanks is extended to Dr. Azar and Dr. Arnold.
