Grady Frederick Cook age 83 of Craver Road, Lexington passed away Friday July 15, 2016 at Hinkle Hospice.
A graveside service will be 1:00 pm Wednesday at Salisbury National Cemetery, conducted by a VA Chaplain with military honors by Davidson County Honor Guard. Inurnment will follow. The family will be at the home of Randy and Lou Ann Barker.
Mr Cook was born August 1, 1932 in Davidson County to Nobe Walser Cook and Lucille Cross Cook. He was a retired carpenter. He honorably served his country in the US Army and received the Korean Service Medal, The United Nations Service Medal and one Bronze Service Star. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3074 where he participated at many veterans funerals. He was also a member of The American Legion Post 8 and Welcome Amvets Post 760. His parents, a son, Ronnie Edward Garrison; brothers, Charles Hedrick, William Clifton Cook, Garland Walser Cook, John Raymond Cook and sisters, Betty Williams and Christine Garwood; grandson, George Manie Sowders also preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby Craver Cook of the home. Daughters: Lou Ann Cook Barker (Randy) of Lexington and Joy Sturgis of VanCleave, Mississippi; a son, Freddy Cook (Cecilia) of Lexington; brother, Nobe Ronald Cook of Big Spring Texas and sisters, Iris McCarn and Deborah Hall of Lexington; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
