Grady Olander Garren, age 76, of Meadow Creek Drive, Lexington passed away Monday morning at Lexington Health Care. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday (3-20-2009) in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Wayne Knight officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00 pm Friday, at Salisbury National Cemetery with full military honors.
Grady was born in Mecklenburg County, NC February 14, 1933 to Frank Garren and Alice Hyatt Garren. He was retired from Proctor & Schwartz after 20 years of employment, and a retired veteran of the US Navy, having served in Korean War, after 20 years of service to his country. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Ruby and Shirley Garren, Viola Stone and Barbara Weikum and one brother J.T. Garren.
Surviving are: wife, Ninetus (Veny) Garren of the home; one daughter, Toni Lynn Garren and husband Jeff Alberts of Lithia, Flordia; two sons, Tracy Garren and wife Linda of Richmond, VA and Troy Garren and wife Amanda of Lexington; six granddaughters, Jaclyn Alberts, Shelly Garren, Dana Garren, Olivia Garren, Emilee Alberts and Jada Garren; one sister Ellen Jennings of Cherryville; one brother, Jack Garren of Cherryville.
The family will receive friends at Davidson funeral Home, from 10 until 11 am Friday prior to the service, and the family will gather at the fellowship hall of First Pentecostal Holiness Church following the burial.
