Granville Vestal

Granville Vestal, age 82 of Alston Brook Nursing Home, formerly of Bedford Drive, Lexington, passed away Sunday (6-21-2009)at Alston Brook. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday (6-24-2009) in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. doug McGee officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum. Granville was born in Surry County, North Carolina October 31, 1926 to Theodore Roosevelt Vestal and Bessie Groce Vestal. He was a member of Arrington Heights Free Will Baptist Church. A retired employee of Link Taylor Furniture and a veteran of the US Army, having served in World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gladys Wright Vestal in 1995, two brothers, Troy and Don Vestal and a sister Betty Hill. Surviving are, three daughters, Barbara Vestal, Vicky Creswell and Dee Waisner all of Lexington; four sons, Michael Lee Vestal of King, Jerry Lee Vestal and Granville Vestal, Jr of Lexington and Destry Shannon Vestal of Charlotte; sixteen grandchildren, twenty five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; and one brother, John Vestal of Greensboro. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home, from 6 until 8 pm Tuesday night and at other times at the home of his daughter, Vicky Creswell, 314 Cow Palace Road, Lexington.
