Gregory Oliver, a loving husband, devoted father, son, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. Greg was born on Wednesday, October 19, 1955, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. Greg was a longtime resident of Lexington, NC, where he built a life rich in love, integrity, and dedication to his family and community.
Greg is survived by his wife, Kathy Crowell Oliver and leaves behind his daughters, Carrie Oliver Turner and husband Callaway, and Rachel Elizabeth Oliver and fiancé Carlos, and his granddaughter, Caraleigh Elizabeth Turner who brought tremendous pride and happiness in his life. Greg is also survived by his mother, Faye Morgan Oliver, nieces and nephews and his companion, his dog, Daisy. He was preceded in death by his father, James Ottis Oliver.
Greg was a proud graduate of both of Concord High School, in 1973 and of Catawba College in 1977 where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. Greg dedicated 43 years of his professional life to Carolina Color Corp., now Cromacolor, working diligently as the lab manager in the quality control division. His commitment to high standards and leadership was widely respected by his colleagues.
Greg received the honor of becoming an Eagle Scout as a young man which may have led to his joy of the outdoors throughout his life. He was an engaged member of the First United Methodist Church in Lexington, where he actively served, including running the sound system during services and lending a hand with Port-A-Pit. His devotion and enjoyment in the community extended beyond the church walls. Greg had a passion for the outdoors kayaking, sailboarding, sail boating, paddle boarding, and biking. His active lifestyle included running marathons in Charlotte, NC, and Washington, DC, participating in a Triathlon and taking part in bike races and tours. He enjoyed events like the Cooper River Bridge Run in Charleston, SC and local events like the Hog Run during the Lexington BBQ Festival. After retirement, Greg continued to enjoy all that life offered him spending treasured moments with his family and his granddaughter. He also found joy on the pickle ball court and loved playing whenever he could.
Family, friends, and those whose lives he touched are invited to celebrate Greg's life at a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00PM on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at First United Methodist Church in Lexington. A reception will follow in the church Fellowship Hall, allowing all who loved him to gather in remembrance with his family. Greg will be interred in the First United Methodist Church Columbarium at a later date.

Greg Oliver will be remembered for the love he had for his family and community. His legacy will live on through the lives of those he touched. Arrangements are being handled by Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington.
