Greta Holcomb Sink, 90 passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 11:30 AM at Faith Missionary Alliance Church, 1077 Gumtree Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27107 with Pastor Michael Gates officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (10:30 to 11:30 AM).
Greta’s family came first and she was always ready to share her love and counsel. She possessed a great gift of conversation and had a unique way of expressing herself. As an animal lover throughout her life she gave a home to many cats and dogs adopted from shelters, the most recent being Katy, a cat from the Humane Society who now lives with her sister Gayle.
After retirement, she and JD enjoyed golfing and traveling. As active members of Faith church, Greta and JD loved their church family and attended services regularly until their health declined. Greta’s Sunday school class was dear to her which brought much comfort during her illness.
Greta was born in Forsyth County on April 28, 1921 to Paul Marcus and Ila Way Gray Holcomb. Prior to retirement she was a computer operator for Western Electric. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Ralph Leon White, 3rd and a sister Arra (Polly) Robertson.
Surviving are husband J D Sink of the home; two sons, Paul Marcus White and wife Beverly of Belmont, Mark Alan Sink and wife Amy of Arcadia; two daughters, Lynda Gray White Jones and Richard, Sr. of Winston-Salem, Marsha Sink Koufman also of Winston-Salem; one brother Paul Grey Holcomb of Arcadia; two sisters, Louise Harmon and husband Jack of Raleigh, Gayle Norsen and husband Ed of Pilot Mtn.; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren.
