Grover Clayton Daniels

April 20, 1937 — September 25, 2017

After years of declining health, Grover Clayton Daniels, 80, of Lexington, passed away Monday, September 25, at Hinkle Hospice House.    A funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, September 27 at Cross Point Church, by the Rev. Michael Greer.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Roger Hensley officiating.      The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.    Mr. Daniels was born May 20, 1937 in Davidson County to Robert Grover Daniels and Zella Byerly Daniels.  His wife, Shirley McGee Daniels, five brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.    Grover worked at Dixie Furniture for 20 years before starting Daniels Tire Service with his son, Daryl in 1984.  He loved working and talking to customers.   He also loved telling people about his love for God as he pumped their gas.  He loved working in his garden, watching things grow, and playing Rook.  He loved to laugh and he never met a stranger.    He is survived by his son, Daryl Daniels and wife, Rhonda, of Lexington; and five siblings, Ted, Jack, and Joe Daniels, Dot McMahan and Peggy Barrier.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292.  No words can adequately express our appreciation for the compassionate care we witnessed and received there.    Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
