Gurney Lawrence Kearns Jr., 89, of Glendale Road, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

A private graveside service will be held Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Forest Hill Memorial Park with Revs. Gene Little and Sandy Young officiating.

Family will be meeting at the home of daughter in-law; Debra C. Kearns, 101 Glendale Road, Lexington.

G.L. was born in Davidson County on February 24, 1931 to Gurney Lawrence Kearns, Sr. and Dorothy Elizabeth Whitaker Kearns. He was a retired employee of Burlington Industries and a member of Silver Valley Baptist Church. G.L. was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Love of his life Dorothy Elizabeth Parker Kearns, married December 22, 1950, son Rodda “Van” Kearns; brothers, David, Brice, Larry and Henry Kearns and sisters, Ina Smith, Dare Black, Patty Marlow, Clarice Walton, Mackie Hill and Vickie Rhodes.

Surviving are his son; Timothy S. Kearns; daughter in-law Debra Kearns of Lexington; four grandchildren, Jeffrey of Lexington, Jared of Charlotte, Terilyn of Statesville, Kristen Kearns of Lexington and two great-grandchildren, Leia Kearns and Leilani McGriff.
