Gurstle “Duke” Hensley, age 53 of Reich Street, Lexington died Friday night in Lexington Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday at Arrington Heights Freewill Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Doug McGee and burial will follow in Arrington Heights Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Duke was born in Sullivan County, TN March 15, 1954, to James Hollis (Bud) Hensley and Vernie Jennings Hensley. He was a former assistant supervisor with Alma Desk and DarRan Furniture in High Point and Council Craftsman in Denton, a member of Arrington Heights Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Emily Ann Hensley and a son Duke Wayne Hensley, a brother Charles Bowens, and sisters; Dorothy Winegar, Cora Lankford and Peggy Winegar.
Surviving are: Wife; Dottie Anne Hewett Hensley of the home, daughter; Jessica Necole Hensley of Lexington, Brothers; James (Jim) Hensley, Alfred Bowens, Perry Hensley, Danny Hensley, Emory (Cotton) Hensley, Lonnie Hensley and Jackie Hensley all of Lexington, and 2 Grandchildren; Ashley Hensley of the home and Devin Hensley of Denton.
The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 until 8 pm at Davidson Funeral Home
and at other time at the home.
