Gwendolyn Pullen Swing, 75, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died November 22, 2011, at Hinkle Hospice House, after six years of declining health.
Funeral Services will be held at North Lexington Baptist Church at 2 pm Wednesday, November 23, 2011, with the Rev. Gavin Pratt, Dr. Bob Floyd and Edward Pullen Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service Wednesday, at the church.
Mrs. Swing was born in Wilkes County, Georgia, on October 14, 1936, to F. Grady and Iris C. Pullen. She retired as Vice President from National Wholesale and Outlet Company after 35 years of service. She later retired after almost 10 years from Davidson County Senior Services. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Ed Pullen of Morristown, Tn.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Thomas T. “Tommy” Swing; two children, a son, Mark Swing and his wife, Sherry, of Mebane and a daughter, Melissa McDonald and her husband, David, of Randleman; two grandchildren, Ryne and Chessa Swing of Mebane; a sister, Elizabeth Weaver and her husband, Don; many nieces and nephews including a special niece, Melodie McDade who was so very helpful and supportive over the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292; or North Lexington Baptist Church Building Fund, 201 Mize Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
