Gwendolyn Leonard Lanier

Gwendolyn Leonard Lanier 76, passed away Wednesday, September 12 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center . The funeral service will be held at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel on Friday, September 14 at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Lee Pollock officiating. Burial will follow at Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery. Ms. Lanier was born May 13, 1931 in Davidson County to Hobart Philip Madison Leonard and Ethel Austin Leonard who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her only grandson Jay Fitzgerald DeHart. Ms. Lanier graduated from Midway High School and continued her education at Catawba College. She was co-owner of Leonard Block Company where she worked for 56 years. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Lanier Thompson; her brother Charles H.B. Leonard and his wife Barbara all of Winston-Salem; a nephew Phillip A. B. Leonard and wife Vicky of High Point; a niece Leslie S. Reddick of Virginia Beach and a great-niece Katherine Francis Leonard of High Point. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home and other times at 2512 Midway School Road.
