Halton Boyd Hughes

July 18, 1932 — December 28, 2008

Halton B. Hughes, age 76 of Pinecrest Rd., Lexington, NC died Sunday in Thomasville Medical Center after an extended illness. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday December 31, 2008 at Silver Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Little and Rev. Fred Carlton officiating. Burial will follow in National Cemetery, Salisbury. Mr. Hughes was born July 18, 1932 in Davidson county to John Brown Hughes and Ollie Van Miller Hughes. A member of Silver Valley Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was a Charter member, Past President and Chaplin of the Silver Valley Civitans. He was a retired employee of Coble Dairy and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Preceding him in death were his parents and 5 brothers. Surviving are his wife, Anna Marcyleen Hamm Hughes of the home, sons, Chris Hughes and wife, Joyce; Greg Hughes and wife, Wendy all of Lexington; daughter, Becky Woodhouse and husband, Jim of Wake Forest, NC, a step grandson, Joseph M. King of Greensboro, a sister, Gladys Alford of Lexington and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME and other times at the home on Pinecrest Rd.
