Harvey Lee Owens

Harvey Lee Owens, 96, of South NC Highway 8, died Monday, June 22, 2009, at Hinkle Hospice House.   A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Stoner’s Grove Baptist Church where he was the oldest member, with the Revs. Billy Pearson and R. N. Hardin officiating, burial will follow in the church cemetery.   Mr. Owens was born July 20, 1912, in Davidson County, to James Owens and Rosine Carrick Owens. He was a former employee of Davidson County Schools. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Hunt Owens who died, January 14, 2007; a son, Calvin Owens who died December 14, 2008; and two half brothers Edward Peacock, and Gerthie Peacock.   Surviving are a son, Rodney Owens and wife, Donna, of Lexington; a daughter-in-law, Becky Owens; four grandchildren, Donny Owens, Darren Owens, Nicholas Owens, and Dane Owens; and half sisters, Veda Cameron of China Grove and Leona Anderson of Lexington.   The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church.   Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
