Harvie Lee Jarvis, 88, of Henderson Lane, graduated to glory, Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at Hinkle Hospice House.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Frankie Matthews and Doug McGee officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday, June 24, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Jarvis was born June 9, 1923, in Davie County to Edward Conrad Jarvis and Sallie Hege Jarvis. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II; was retired form Burlington Furniture and a member of Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. Mr. Jarvis was a devoted, loving husband, an example of a Godly Christian man. A friend to all who knew him, and a wonderful earthly father to all his children. He leaves to cherish his memory the testimony to all who knew him and a desire that they too, may walk with God. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Clyde Jarvis, Grady Jarvis, and Ernest Jarvis; brother, James Jarvis; and sister, Ruth Powell.
Surviving are his loving wife of 67 years, Nellie Smith Jarvis; sons, Gary Jarvis and wife, Connie, of Asheboro, Keith Jarvis and wife, Veigh, of Midway, and Wayne Jarvis and wife, Cammy, of Lexington; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Dorothy Scarlett and Annie Younts, both of Lexington.
