Mrs. Hazel Mae Underwood Butts, 63, of Courtland Drive, Thomasville, died Friday, May 4 at Forsyth Medical Center.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Near Calvary Freewill Baptist Church, by the Rev. Jeff Walser. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Butts was born June 2, 1948 in Davidson County to David Jasper Underwood and Ruth Alice Welborn Underwood. She was an employee of Hasty Elementary School and a member of Near Calvary Freewill Bapist Church. Her brother, Marvin Ray Underwood, and sister, Shelvia Randall, preceded her in death. She was a wonderful, loving and caring wife and best friend to Dennis. Her gentle, loving kindness and warm heart will be greatly missed by her family, friends, co-workers and students.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Dennis Butts of the home, her daughter, Becky Walser and husband, the Rev. Jeff Walser, of Lexington; her sons, Jesse Howard and wife, Diane, of Lexington, and Keith Allen and wife, Julie, of Rural Hall; her brother David Jasper Underwood, Jr. of High Point; her sister, Carleen Branson and husband, John, of Lexington; and her grandchildren, Zachary Ryan Howard, Dustin Craig Walser, Ashley Elizabeth Walser, Trent Wayne Allen, and Wesley Hunter Allen.
