Hazel Knox Horton

Hazel Knox Horton, age 90, of White Oak Manor, Charlotte, formerly of Wall Street, Lexington passed away Sunday morning, May 13, 2012 at White Oak Manor.  Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 17, 2012 in the Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with Rev. Kelley Groce officiating.  Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery.   The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 until 1:30 Thursday prior to the service.   Hazel was born in King County, New York November 10, 1921 to Henry Julian Knox and Eleanor Elizabeth Green Knox.  She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Memphis State and taught school for a few years after graduating. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John Franklin Horton, Jr. July 11, 1996.   Hazel is survived by her son; Steve Horton and wife Liz of Luttrell, TN; her daughters, Ellen Jones and husband Bob of Farmer, NC; Barbara Kissick and husband Andy of Colorado Springs, CO; Cathy DuPre and husband Brian of Matthews, NC and Pat Friddle and husband Tom of High Point; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Goggin of Gainesville, FL; brothers, James Knox of boulder, CO and Rev. Harold B.
