Hazel Underwood Morris, age 97 of Woodhaven Drive, Lexington passed away Monday morning at Hinkle Hospice House.
Funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Thomasville. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall from 2:00 until 3:00 pm prior to the service.
Hazel was born in Davidson County October 20, 1917 to Joshua Underwood and Mary Lou Watford Underwood. She graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in 1941and was a retired Registered Nurse with Golden Age Nursing Home and a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gene Morris, Sr., her sister, Ola Bisher; her brothers, Grady and Fred Underwood.
Surviving are her daughters; Barbara Morris Perrell (Ed) and Kay Morris Billings (Johnny) all of Lexington; son, Gene Morris (Cheri) of Lexington; grandchildren, Melissa Phipps (John), Betsy Shaak (Rob), Beverly Cagle (Heath), Anthony Billings, Blair Erling (Frank) and Taylor Curtis (Simon) and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank our mothers caregivers, Bea Hughes and Ronda Feezor and for the staff of Hinkle Hospice House for the Love and compassion shown during her illness.
