Hazel Cox Snider

Hazel Snyder Cox Snider, 95, of Junior Order Home Road, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at her home following a two month illness. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Linwood United Methodist Church, where she was a member, by the Revs. Max Shoaf and Melissa Penry. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Snider was born Nov. 16, 1914, in Davidson County, to Alexander McRay Snyder and Eula Vann Michael Snyder. She was a retired cafeteria worker and substitute teacher from Linwood School. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Willie Gatchel Cox in 1973, and Ira Lee Snider in 2007; brother, Eldred Snyder; and sister, Mildred Moore. Surviving are daughters, Margaret Trexler and her husband, Keith, of Lexington, Doris Schermer and Mary Myers, both of Florida; six grandchildren, Janet Elrod, Michael Schermer and his wife, Cindy, Julie O'Malley and her husband, Dan, all of Florida, Wes Sutton and his wife, Mollie, Emily Ridenhour and her husband, Wade, and Keith Trexler and his wife, Torrey, all of Lexington; six great-grandchildren, Sarah Schermer, Katie O'Malley, Daniel O'Malley, all of Florida, Kenny Betty of New Mexico, and Kaitlyn Trexler and Alex Trexler, both of Lexington; and sisters, Elizabeth Shoaf of Lexington, and Vivian Swing and her husband, Foil, of Welcome. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home on Junior Order Home Road.
