Helen Louise Helms Carpenter, 90, of Oak Run Court, Lewisville, formerly of Chapel Drive, Lexington, died Monday, February 27, 2012, at Lexington Health Care.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2012, at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Wayne Knight officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington and other times at the home, 115 Oak Run Court, Lewisville.
Mrs. Carpenter was born September 9, 1921, in Cabarrus County, to Calvin Ellis Helms and Edna Bell Furr Helms. She was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, who loved spending time with her family at Holden Beach. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years who she helped serve in various churches, Rev. Collie Clyde Carpenter who died July 3, 2005; grandson, Richard Shane Carpenter; granddaughter, Alexandria Kio Carpenter; brothers, Earl and George Helms; and sisters, Lona Jonas and Lois Helms.
Surviving are sons, Jimmie Carpenter and wife, Peggy, of Charlotte, and John Carpenter of Winston-Salem; daughters, Marilyn Berrier, Dianne Faulkner, both of Lewisville, and Kay Byerley and husband, Dwayne, of Lexington; 14 grandchildren, Mark Byerley, Chris Byerley, Michael Byerley, Kelly Coppley, Wendy Everhart, Jeff Carson, Jason Faulkner, Brian Carpenter, Tracy Faddis, Todd Carpenter, Joey Carpenter, Terry Carpenter, Megan Carpenter, and Penny Clinkscales; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Calvin Helms and wife, Sarah, of Concord; and sisters, Betty Baggarly, Margie Walker and husband, Bobby Joe, and Elsie Walker and husband, Jimmy, all of Concord.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1448 East US Highway 64, Lexington, NC 27292.
The family would like to thank the staff of Lexington Health Care and Liberty Hospice Services for their special care given to Helen during her final days.
