Helen Shaw Lanning 79 of Nottington Drive, Lexington died Tuesday Morning June 12, 2007 at her home.
The funeral will be at 1 pm Saturday June 16, 2007 at Amazing Grace Baptist Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. Martin Murphy. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery.
Mrs. Lanning was born in Davidson County on July 1, 1927 to Jim Shaw and Nonnie Gregory Shaw. She was a homemaker. Her parents, and her husband William R. Lanning Sr, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son in law, Miles Mabe; brothers, Wade Shaw, Garland Shaw, Marshall Broadway, and Will Shaw; sisters, Collie Belle Berrier and Avon Peeler; and a brother in law, Clayton Furr.
Surviving are a son, Roger Lanning and his wife Lynne of Lexington; a daughter Phyllis M. Mabe of Lexington; sister, Mildred Furr of Charlotte; five grandchildren, Billy Lanning of Colorado, Mary Elizabeth Franco of Lexington, Jason Knight of Colorado, Nichole Moore of Lexington and Veronica George of Jacksonville, NC; seven great-grandchildren, Alex Lanning, Korban Franco, Isaac Moore, Caleb Moore, Keelie Smith, Amber Smith and Cheyenne George.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel and other times at the home of the son, on Lingle Farm Road, Lexington.
