Helen Irene Pope

Helen Irene Pope, age 71 of Belle Avenue in Roanoke, VA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Hospice Home of the Piedmont.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 23, 2021 in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington officiated by Rev. Tony Owens.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm.

Helen was born on October 30, 1949 in Davidson County to Fred Eugene Pope, Sr. and Vernie Elizabeth Surratt Pope.  She was a retired teacher with Bedford County Schools and attended Unitarian Universalist Church.  Helen loved traveling to France, gardening and her dogs.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Fred Pope, Jr., Bobby Pope, Don Pope; sister, Susan Weaver; and her four-legged friend, Sofie.

Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Betty Owens and Frances Myers (Richard); sisters-in-law, Crissy Pope and Betty Pope; many nieces and nephews and her four-legged friend, Luke.
