Helen Elizabeth Everhart Wood, 92, of H.W. Phillips Rd., Lexington died Tuesday in Brookstone Retirement Center after one year of declining health.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, January 13, 2012 at Friendship United Methodist Church with Rev. Patrick Snow officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Gayle and James Byrd.
Mrs. Wood was born April 24, 1919 in Davidson County to John Stanley Everhart and Julie Frances Leonard Everhart. She was a retired Looper with Yarborough Hosiery and a member of Friendship United Methodist Church. Preceding her in death was her husband, Conard Elmer Wood, April 30, 1999, and 12 brothers and sisters.
Surviving are a son, Hoyt Lynn Wood and wife, Samira of Lexington; a daughter, Gayle Byrd and husband, James of Lexington; three grandchildren, Dana Byrd Leonard and husband, Jeff, Jarred Wood, Jamie Byrd Davis and husband, Ben; six great grandchildren, Rachel Leonard, Madelyn Leonard, Haylee Leonard, Hannah Wood, Lindsay Davis, Julia Davis, a brother, W.J. Everhart and wife, Myrtle of Lexington and extended family, Janie and Maynard Livengood, and Betty and Bobby Reich.
