Helen Young

Helen Camilla Vanderford Young, 94, of Shannon Drive passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday April 13, 2019 at Center Hill Baptist Church with Revs. Brian Alexander and Lamar Moore officiating the service.  Burial will follow at Center Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.  Visitation with family and friends will be held Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington.

Ms. Young was born in Iredell County on April 3, 1925 to Clifford Allen Vanderford and Rosie Ethel Morrow Vanderford.  She worked for Lexington Furniture and was a member of VFW Auxillary 3074.  She also served with her husband in ministry at many churches including Mountain View, Summerville, Floyd, North Cooleemee (Edgewood), Neuse, Union Grove, Center Hill, New Testament and Fellowship Baptist Churches.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rev. Charles Samuel Young, Jr., her daughter, Melody Jo Young, and a granddaughter, Anna Young, and also 4 sisters.

Surviving are her sons, Rev. Charles S. ‘Sandy’ Young, III (Kelly) of Denton and Larry D. Young (Diane) of the home; her daughter, Tracy Young Swing (Scott) of Lexington; and four grandchildren, Megan Young, Melanie Young Hogrefe (Matthew), Charles S. Young, IV, and Noah Swing.
