Henry Junior Beck, age 82, of North County Home Road, Lexington passed away Monday morning (October 24, 2011) at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Palliative Care in Winston Salem.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday (October 26, 2011) at First Reformed United Church of Christ with Rev. Robin Keating and Dr. Lee Jessup officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery, with military honors.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington from 6-8 pm Tuesday and at other times at the home.
Junior was born in Davidson County, February 5, 1929 to John Henry Beck and Ollie Everhart Loggins Beck. He was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ where he served on the Trustees, Consistory, Sunday School Teacher for many years and served in many other capacities in the church. He was a former employee of Burlington Mills; and worked for many years for the US Government, Defense Logistics Agency as a Supervisor for the Inspection Department. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 8. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank Loggins and Leonard Beck; sisters, Lillie Beck Crotts and Inez Beck Fritts.
Surviving are; his wife, Juanita Bates Beck of the home; in-laws, Peggy Bates, Marzell Crotts, Brenda Bates, Jack Kennedy, J.W. and Betty Bates; special nieces and nephew, Susan Odom, Donna Younts, Glenda Hobbs and Gary Bates and many other loved and cherished nieces and nephews.
