Henry William Edwards Jr.

Henry William Edwards Jr., 83, of Willowbrook Circle, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011. His homegoing service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Robert Floyd, Pastor Randy B. Robbins, and Henry’s son, Preacher Tim Edwards. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the home. Mr. Edwards was born on Oct. 8, 1927, in Guilford County to Henry Edwards Sr. and Vernie Lipe Edwards. He was retired from PPG Industries and was a member of North Lexington Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II and was a member of VFW Post 3074. Preceding him in death were a brother, James Robert “Pete” Edwards, and three sisters, Verlie Tysinger, Linda Booe and Loretta Hedrick, which made Henry the last surviving member of his family. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Elaine Kirkland Edwards of the home; two sons, David Mark Edwards and wife Linda of Burlington and Timothy P. “Tim” Edwards and wife Donna of Lexington; two grandsons, Chris Edwards and fiance Heather and Nick Edwards and wife Beth; and one great-grandson, Jacob William Edwards. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292. The family would like to thank Hospice for their care during Henry’s illness.
