Henry (Mutt) James, 78, of Old Mill Farm Road, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, in the Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, with burial to follow in the Good Hope United Methodist Church cemetery.
Mutt was born Oct. 18, 1928, in Davidson County to Lemuel and Ada Mae Weaver James. He was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company Archer Division. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served in World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Edgar James; and a granddaughter, Linda Carol James.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gaynell Huff James; four sons, Elmer (Bud) James and wife Kathy of Charlotte, Jerry James and wife Lori, Kenneth Kirkus and wife Brenda, and Tony Hedrick and wife Kay, all of Lexington; a daughter, Carolyn Feezor, of Lexington; a sister, Eleanor Walser, of Lexington; 17 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 Tuesday evening, Aug. 14, at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel and other times at their respective homes.
