Henry Clay Sowers Jr. age 90 of Welcome passed away March 9, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Bethesda United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with the Davidson County Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Henry was born August 30, 1922 in Davidson County to Henry Clay Sowers Sr. and Elizabeth Latham Sowers. He attended Welcome High School and was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Army during WWII. A former member of the Lexington VFW and Welcome Fire Dept and He retired from R J Tobacco Co. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife Joyce Ader Sowers, 2nd wife Iretha Livengood Sowers, a son; Michael Clay Sowers, his brothers; Willie Melvin Sowers, Joseph Enzer Sowers, his sister; Bessie Gertrude Sowers Loflin.
Surviving are his son Bruce Edwin Davis of Welcome, his grandchildren; Erica S. Walser (David Walser), Wendy D. Clodfelter (Mark Clodfelter), Felicia Sowers, his great-grandchildren; Peyton Walser, Porter Walser, Adam Clodfelter, Brittany Clawson, Jasmine Sprigle, his brothers; James Erastus Sowers of Southmont and Roy Odell Sowers of Midway and a special friend Evelyn Walser.
The family would like memorials sent to, Hospice & Palliative Care Centers of Forsyth County, 101 Hospice Lane Winston Salem, NC 27103.
