Herman Lee "Chub" Wilson

Herman Lee “Chub” Wilson, age 77, of Old Highway 52, Lexington passed away Thursday afternoon January 19, 2012 at his home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, January 23, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Welcome with Rev. Mark Blair and Rev. Charles Dickens officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park with Firefighters Graveside Rites. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Sunday night and at other times at the home. Chub was born in Davidson County, June 29, 1934 to Willie Wilson and Fanny Muncus Wilson. He retired from Coble Dairy after 43 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Welcome. A member of Welcome Fire Department, serving as a firefighter, traffic officer and a member of the Board of Directors. He retired from the fire department, April 2005 with 50 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Frances Weatherman Wilson on Oct. 22, 1998; two brothers, Herbert Franklin “Buck” Wilson and Hobert “Pete” Wilson. Surviving are his wife, Yvonne Byrd Wilson of the home; four sons, Lee Wayne Wilson and wife, Kelly, of Welcome, Eddie Wilson and wife, Mitzi, David Ray Wilson and Michael Wilson and wife, Angie, all of Lexington; one daughter, Louise Radford and husband James of Greensboro; three step-daughters, Teresa Owensby and husband, Danny, of Mooresville, April Hamby of Welcome and Mary Lou Church of Thomasville; two step-sons; Junior church and wife Robin of Lexington and Eric Church of Salisbury; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Sally Leonard of Lexington; one brother, Raymond “Doc” Wilson of Lexington.
