Hester Walser

Hester Mae Weaver Walser, 90, of Brian Center of Lexington and formerly of Hampton Road, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, at Lexington Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Good Hope United Methodist Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. Chris Bennett. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Walser was born May 8, 1916, in Davidson County to Amos Weaver and Ida Lou Hoffman Weaver. She was a homemaker. She and her husband of 71 years, Arville Lee "Jack" Walser, ran Walser's Lake, a well-known fishing spot for more than 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 3, 2004; a grandson, Fred David Walser; and a son-in-law, Denson Pugh. Surviving are a son, John David Walser and his wife, Bernice, of Lexington; a daughter, Frances Arminta Pugh of Southmont; two grandchildren, Tony Paige and his wife, Anita, and Michael Paige and his wife, Lisa, all of Lexington; and six great-grandchildren, Justin and Jessica Paige, Diana and David Walser and Cody and Tyler Herrin. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, and other times at the home of her son. Memorials may be made to donor's choice.
