Hilda Mae Bean Goins

Hilda Goins, 86, of Lexington, NC, passed away Saturday June 13, 2026, at Hinkle Hospice House.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2026, at Davidson Funeral Chapel, Lexington. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.

She was born July 13, 1939, in Denton, to the late Ervin Watson and Lena Mae Daniel Bean.

Hilda was a talented seamstress and enjoyed making her husband's reenactment Civil War and Revolutionary War uniforms. She also worked as a seamstress in the textile industry. Hilda was an excellent southern style cook and loved to cook for her family. She was known for her chicken and dumplings and coconut cakes.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Grubb; a nephew, David Grubb; a niece, Donna Grubb Holder; and brothers-in-law, Lanny Grubb and Roby Loflin.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 69 years, James L. Goins, of Lexington, two daughters Lisa G. Rumley (Scott), Wendy G. Nagel, five grandchildren, Scott Rumley II. (Elizabeth), Christopher Nagel, Anthony Tilley, Jacob Tilley, and Brianna Beasley, three great grandchildren, Rylan Rumley, Avery Rumley, and Ailana Beasley, a sister Betty Loflin and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all that cared for Hilda at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Lexington Medical Center and Hinkle Hospice House—“The care and compassion you gave her gave us all comfort during a difficult time.”
