Hilda Bondurant Hoffman

September 6, 1936 — April 7, 2024

Hilda Bondurant Hoffman, adored mother and grandmother peacefully departed this life to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

Her family will receive loved ones and friends in a graveside service to be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethesda Church.

Born on September 6, 1936, in Cana, Virginia, Hilda was the daughter of James Edwin and Nora Warren Bondurant. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Paul Calvin Hoffman.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Richard Hoffman (Jeannie) of Tallahassee, Florida, and Suzanne Watson (Frank) of Lexington, and her grandchildren Kristen Watson Foley (Dustin) of Winston-Salem, Paul Ruben Hoffman of Tallahassee, and Clay Watson of Lexington. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth Vestal (Calvin) of Clemmons, two nephews and a niece, and their spouses.

A true homemaker, Hilda was devoted to her loved ones, neighbors, and the Welcome community. In her younger years Hilda loved to garden, can vegetables, sew, bake, cook and share all those gifts with others. She always made sure the neighborhood hummingbirds were well-fed and knew her yard was home. More recently, she spent much of her time working puzzles, talking on the phone, and studying her Bible.

A faithful member of her church, Hilda considered it her ministry to show Christ’s love by visiting shut-ins. Hilda enjoyed fellowship with friends and never arrived empty-handed, always with a homemade treat to brighten their day. She never forgot to show love at home either, always with enough leftover ingredients to make Calvin a dessert of his own, which they affectionately referred to as a “little love pie.”

Hilda’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the team members that cared for Hilda on 8 West Palliative Care at Forsyth Medical Center, the team at KBR that allowed for a gentle passing into Heaven’s gates, and especially the caregivers at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living where Hilda was treated like family during some of her most trying days.

Hilda Hoffman will be remembered fondly for her kindness, her unwavering faith, and the selfless way she put others’ needs before her own. May she rest in eternal peace in the arms of her Savior.

The staff at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel is honored to be serving the Hoffman family during this difficult time, offering support and comfort.
