Hillary Rhodes

Hillary Harriet Jones Rhodes, 86, of Lexington, NC, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, September 28, 2024.

A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 2 pm on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington, with the Rev. Dr. Ray Howell, III officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Rhodes was born on February 19, 1938, in Davidson County to Howard Jones and Harriet Spear Jones. She dedicated her life to education and service, retiring after 30 years as a teacher, having worked at Central Davidson, Lexington Senior High, E. Lawson Brown Jr. High, and the Davidson County Home Bound Program. Mrs. Rhodes' passion for teaching touched the lives of many students throughout her career. An active member of First Baptist Church of Lexington, Mrs. Rhodes served on various church committees, including the bereavement committee, and was a devoted member of the Eastern Star for seventy years. She lived her life with a heart full of love for her family, friends, and faith, and was a true servant of the Lord.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, John Shaw Rhodes; and her sisters, Jackie Lanning, Barbara Jones, and Jane Barker.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving son, Scott Myers Rhodes; her granddaughters, Miranda Dennis (Dakota) and Savannah Rhodes; as well as many cherished friends and extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church of Lexington or to Hospice of Davidson County.

Mrs. Rhodes will be remembered for her warm heart, strong faith, and lifelong dedication to serving others.
