Homer Roland Gibson

Homer ‘Roland’ Gibson, 95, of Lexington, NC passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.

A graveside service will be held 3pm Friday, August 16 th at Forest Hill Memorial Park with Chaplain Ben Vogler officiating.

Visitation with family and friends will be held from 2-3pm Friday at Davidson Funeral Home before the service.

Mr. Gibson was born in Davidson County on August 7, 1924 to Carl Odell Gibson and Jetty Corina Money Gibson.  He was a member of 2 nd Presbyterian Church and was a 32 degree Mason. He retired from Lexington Furniture Industries (formerly Dixie Furniture Co.) having worked as Corporate Director of Payroll. After retirement he enjoyed operating a small stained glass business. Roland served in the Army from 1943-1946 in New Guinea and Southern Philippines.  He was awarded several medals including two Bronze Service Stars and a Victory Medal.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia Ruth Francis Gibson; sister, Annie Marie Peninger and a grandson, Andrew Ward Gibson.

Surviving are his son, Alan Gibson and wife, Jane, of Beaufort, SC; two grandchildren, Alan Scott Gibson and Patrick Jonathan Gibson, and his special friend, Laura Briles.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
