Horace Andrew Owen, 75, of Oakdale Road, died Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at Brian Center Nursing Center, following an illness of six weeks.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2009, at Linwood United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Melinda Penry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3074.
Mr. Owen was born December 23, 1933, in Davidson County, to Ivens G. Owens and Genorah Briggs Owens. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, and was a self employed carpenter. He was also a member of VFW Post 3074 and the American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Conrad Owen of the home; son, Andrew Owen and wife, Juanita, of Huntsville, Al.; daughter, Robbin Swing and husband, Rene, of Lexington; grandchildren, Tess Swing of Lexington and Graham Owens of Huntsville, Al.; brothers, Wilford Owens and Hulin Owens, both of Lexington; and sisters, Letha Shoaf and husband, Rev. Max Shoaf, and Opal Rowe and husband, John, all of Lexington.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009, at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel.
