Howard "Hoagie" Brinkley

Arthur Howard “Hoagie” Brinkley, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013, from injuries due to an automobile accident. A funeral service will be held at 11a.m. Monday, March 25, at First Baptist Church of Welcome by the Rev. Mark Blair. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington. Mr. Brinkley was born September 21, 1941 in Davidson County to Baxter Odell Brinkley and Hazel Gallimore Brinkley. He retired from RJ Reynolds Co. and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Welcome. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge #696. His wife, Mildred Hedrick Brinkley, preceded him in death on March 20, 2012. His son, Christopher Howard Brinkley, and his brother, William Brinkley, also preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, Chad Brinkley of Welcome; his step-sons, Derek Latham of Lake Norman and Bryan Latham and wife, Susie, of Lexington; his sisters, Martha Yarbrough and husband, Clegg, of Linwood, and Brenda Hartman and husband, Dwight, of Midway; his grandchildren, Zachary Brinkley, Alexa Brinkley, and Hallie Brinkley; his step grandchildren, Kenny Latham, Brittany Hamby and husband, Justin, and Brandi Latham; his step-great grandchild, Ethan Latham; special friend, Carol Presnell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Welcome, PO Box 269, Welcome, NC 27374.
