Howard Hoover Lawson, 76, of Winston-Salem embarked on his Heavenly journey on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, after a long and courageous battle with congestive heart failure.
He was born on Feb. 21, 1929, to the late Lily Mae Vanhoy Lawson and Wesley Howard Lawson. Howard was a member of Linville Forest Church of Christ. He loved his Lord, reading the Bible, spending time with his family, raising a garden, saltwater fishing and going to the beach. This loving husband, dad and PaPa will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his brother, Carol.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mrs. Lucy Pauline "Polly" Lawson; a daughter, Donna; a son, Tony; and a daughter-in-law, Bonnie. He was PaPa to five grandchildren, Christopher and his wife, Lori, Traci and her husband, Charles, Melissa, Kerri and her husband, Steve, and T.J. He had two great-grandchildren, Casey and Caleb. He is also survived by brothers Elmer, Delmer, Harold and Alton; and a sister, Carolyn.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Linville Forest Church of Christ in Kernersville. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Feb. 6, at Davidson Funeral Home-Hickory Tree Chapel.
