Hoyle Bruff

Hoyle Bruff, a loving husband, father, and friend passed away peacefully from this life July 14, 2025, at the age of 85 at his home in Lexington, NC.

Hoyle was a market manager and meatcutter for several grocery stores, retiring from Lowes Foods in February 2003 and was a member of Sheets Memorial Baptist Church. Hoyle loved bowling and fishing and was an avid golfer.

Hoyle was born in Davidson County, NC to the late Hoyle James Bruff, Sr. and Ollie Lovell Bruff. Along with his parents, Hoyle was preceded in death by his son, Martin Dale Bruff.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife Carolyn of 67 years, brother, Jerry (Alice); daughter, Melissa Mickel (Sammy), three of his sons, James (Linda), Michael (Kim) and Joey (Dawn); seven grandchildren, Gregory, Annette, Sarah, Samantha, Emily, Margie, Aynsley; and three great-grandchildren, Rose, Elaina, Mateo.

Hoyle will be remembered for his patience, his love of life, and as a friend to all who met him.

Visitation will be on Sunday, July 20 from 1:00PM to 2:00PM at Davidson Funeral Home, 301 North Main Street, Lexington, NC 27292.  A Memorial funeral service will be at 2:00PM with burial to follow in the Lexington City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Davidson County or a charity of one’s choice.
