Hoyt Lynn Wood

Hoyt Lynn Wood, age 80 of Lexington, passed away on Sunday, July 25 at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Wednesday, July 28 at Reeds Baptist Church, where he was a member, by the Rev. Henry Waterson.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Wood was born February 28, 1941 in Davidson County to Conard Elmer Wood and Helen Everhart Wood.  He retired from Daniel Construction and was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He loved his cowboy movies and spent many hours outside in his chair reading the Bible.  He served his country in the National Guard Army Reserve, completing his service as an E4 Artillery Sharp Shooter.

He is survived by his wife, Samira Slaydon Wood of the home; his son, Jarred Wood (Laurie) of Lexington; his granddaughters, Hannah Wyruit (Raekwon) of Salisbury, and Lauren Ramirez (Gilbert) of Lexington; his great-grandchildren, Maleeyah Goodman, Raekwon Wyruit Jr., and Eva Ramirez; his sister, Gail Byrd (Jimmy), and several nieces and nephews.
