Hubert Mcdonald Barnhill

Hubert McDonald Barnhill, 69, of Helmstetler Road, died Sunday, May 7, 2006, at Lexington Memorial Hospital after declining health of three weeks. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rolling Heights Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a member, by the Rev. Wayne Sechrest. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. Mr. Barnhill was born Feb. 2, 1937, in Columbus County to Wilbur Edgar Barnhill Sr. and Zelma Crowell Barnhill. He was a former employee of Coble Dairy and later Flavo-Rich, where he was a shipping clerk. He retired from Elizabeth Carbide and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Carol Barnhill, and two brothers, Clifton Barnhill and Carlton Barnhill. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Sneed Barnhill of the home; two sons, Randy Barnhill of Linwood and Douglas Barnhill of Lexington; four stepsons, Billy Dorsett and Bobby Dorsett, both of Lexington, Jeffery Dorsett and his wife, Glenda, of Southmont and Robert Dorsett and his wife, Jannie, of Thomasville; two daughters, Donna Michele Barnhill and Tracie Leonard and her husband, Timothy, of Linwood; a stepdaughter, Bonnie Hodge of Lexington; six brothers, Francis "Gene" Barnhill and his wife, Joann, Wilbur Barnhill Jr., Thomas Barnhill and his wife, Vera, David Barnhill and his wife, Vanessa, Michael Barnhill and his wife, Mary, and Linwood Barnhill, all of Lexington; four sisters, Evelyn Stevenson of Thomasville and Elsie Brown and her husband, Russell, Juanita Payne and her husband, Bobby, and Helen Williamson and her husband, Barney, all of Wilmington; two grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and other times at the home.
