Hubert Richard Hamilton

Hubert Richard Hamilton, 96 of Old Salisbury Road, Linwood died Monday June 25, 2007 at Autumn Care in Salisbury. A funeral service will be 3:00 pm Thursday June 28, 2007 at Greer’s Chapel United Methodist Church, where he was a member, conducted by Rev. Lori Ann Bowen and Rev. David Robinson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Hamilton was born October 10, 1910 in Rowan County to Sam J. Hamilton and Molly Lyerly Hamilton. He retired from NC Finishing Company after 43 years of service. Mr. Hamilton was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters: Gertrude Boger, Mary , Hazel McDaniel and Velma Clauson; and two brothers: Claude and Leon Hamilton. Surviving is his loving wife of 70 years, Viola Dennis Hamilton of the home; two sons, Larry Hamilton and his wife, Mary Jane, and Richard Hamilton and his wife, Nelva Jane, all of Linwood; a daughter, Joyce Ann Shattuck and her husband, David, of Matthews; Seven Grandchildren, 4 Step Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, 12 Step Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren; and his sisters, Patsy Ruth Frely of Faith, and Martha Jean Josey of Landis. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00pm Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home on Old Salisbury Road, Linwood.
