Hubert Hoover Hege

Hubert Hoover Hege 94 of Lexington passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, August 1, 2017.  A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church by the Rev. Sandra Ireson officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.   The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.   Hubert was born August 13, 1922 in Davidson County to Joe L. and Myrtle Robertson Hege.  He was an active member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.  He honorably served his country in World War II. He served his community as a charter member of the A-RC-H Fire Department and a member of Arcadia Grange 607, serving as the Emeritus Board Member of the North Carolina State Grange.  He retired from J.W. Burress, Inc. and remained an active farmer and builder of birdhouses until his death.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Mary Lillian Zimmerman Hege; brothers, Joe L. Hege, Jr. and Roger and sisters, Inez Myers, Lottie Taylor and Virginia Mock.   Surviving are a son Alex Shelton Hege, Sr. (Kathleen); daughters Bonnie Jean Hege and Rosemary Hege; grandchildren Angela Pilcher and Alex Shelton Hege, Jr. (Candy); Jeanette Baucom, Rhonda Baucom and Brad Mosley (Shannon); great-grandchildren Michael Pilcher (Britni), Tanner Hege and Austin Hege, Blake Hull (Elizabeth), Tyler Baucom, Kayla Baucom, Karson Mosley,  Lance Mosley  and great-great grandchildren, Aubree Pilcher, Jalyn Jones, Jordyn Hull and Reece Hull.  He is also survived by his brother John Ray Hege (Frances) and sister-in-law Evva Zimmerman and all his loving nieces and nephews.   The family would like memorials directed to Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church (Mary Lillian Hege Youth Fund), 1082 Community Road, Lexington, NC  27295 or the Arcadia Grange Youth, c/o Kelli Rapp, 205 Ben Allyn Lane, Lexington, NC  27295.   Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
