Huey "Buddy" Elders

Huey "Buddy" Elders, 78 of Lexington, NC passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026. 

Buddy was born on April 12, 1948, in Swain County, NC to Roscoe and Antha Elders. He was a member of God's Saving Grace Church of Lexington and loved the Lord and loved to read his Bible.  He worked for Energy United for over 30 years and also owned Buddy's Tree Service for 16 years until he retired.  He never met a stranger and was a jack of all trades and always helped friends and even people he did not know.

Buddy is survived by his wife Geri Elders of the home, daughter, Wendy Sharpe (Brad) and sons Ricky Miller (Shelby), Randy Miller all of Lexington and Joe Rose (Stacy) of Winston Salem, NC and Kevin Rose of Goldsboro, NC.  Sisters:  Norma Jean Johnson (Paul) and Audrey Perry (Arlin) both of Asheville, Corenna Barker (Junior) of Bryson City, NC Granddaughters:  Bailey Hammonds (Matthew) of Lexington, Foster Barrett (Frank) of Illinois and Lyndsay Rose of Winston, Salem and Grandson: Walker Rose of Winston Salem, NC, Great Grandchildren Tobias, Everly, Lathum and Daxton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Wanda Kiger, Ola Mae Elders and Merrilee Elders and brothers, Foy Elders, Ray Elders, and Johnny Elders. 

Buddy will be remembered as a loving husband and the best loving father ever, grandfather and great grandfather.  He enjoyed car shows and classic cars and traveling to the Great Smokey Mountains where he grew up in Bryson City, NC.  

A private graveside service will take place at Mason Branch Cemetery, 556 Mason Branch Road, Bryson City, NC on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
