Hugh Clifford Beck

Hugh Clifford “Sugar Babe” Beck, 81, of Arvil Hunt Road, died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Hinkle Hospice House following an extended illness.  The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2014, and other times at the home.  Mr. Beck was born August 25, 1932, in Davie County, to Charlie Wiseman Beck and Lydia Seaford Beck. He was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, a graduate of Coolemee High School and retired from Duracell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Wade Beck, Richard Beck and Kenneth Beck.  Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Marie Barney Beck, of the home; daughter, Gwen Burkhart and husband Mark of Lexington; granddaughter, Kristen Stewart and husband Jed; great-grandchildren, Cole Stewart and Autumn Stewart; brother, Claude Beck and wife Nancy of Mocksville; and sister, Edith Grubb of Mocksville.  Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
