Hugh D. Harris

Hugh D. Harris, 75, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at The Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House, Winston-Salem, NC.

The family will receive friends and family 6-8 pm Friday, August 17, 2018 at Oak Forest United Methodist Church, and other times at the home on Jones Drive. A funeral is planned for Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 11:00am at Oak Forest United Methodist Church.

Mr. Harris was born May 9, 1943 in Floyd County, Va. to Marvin and Blanche Dalton Harris. He was a graduate of Dublin High School. His work career included work in the trucking industry, insurance and retired from Winston-Salem Transit. He was a member of Oak Forest UMC, where he enjoyed being a member of the United Methodist Men’s Club and Bowling on Wednesday mornings. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Jay and Loy. In 1961 he married the love of his life, Linda Helton Harris who survives of the home. He is also survived by his loving sons, Bryan(Dawn), and David(Theresa) from Lexington, daughter, Susan Helsabeck(Oliver)of High-Point, two grandsons, BJ(Brooke) and Bruce Harris, granddaughter, Elizabeth Helsabeck and two great grandchildren, Bradley and Breah Harris.

The family would like to thank Dr. Lon Morgan and his staff, and Dr. Shearer and her staff.
