Hulin Owens

Mr. Hulin Daniel Owens, 85, of Pinetop Road, died Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Hinkle Hospice House after a brief illness. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, November 22 at Psalm 91 Church, with Rev. Max Shoaf officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home. Mr. Owens was born December 6, 1924 in Stanley County to Iven Owens and Genorah Briggs Owens. He retired from Billings Freight Systems and was a member of Psalm 91 Church. Mr. Owens was a veteran of the US Navy, having served in the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 8 and Amvets Post 13. His wife, Maxine Smith Owens, preceded him in death. He is survived by his sons, Dan Owens of Salisbury and Hulin Wayne Owens of Lexington; his daughters, Wanda Ramsey and husband, Art, and Sedena Palmer, both of Lexington; his brother, Wilfred Owens, and his sisters, Letha Shoaf and husband, the Rev. Max Shoaf, and Opal Rowe, both of Lexington; nine grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
