Hundley "Hun" Philpott Lowe

Mary Hundley Philpott Lowe (Hun), 74, of Sequoia Drive, Lexington, died Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Hinkle Hospice House of Davidson County surrounded by her family.

A memorial service honoring a life well-lived will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, November 29 at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington conducted by Dr. Lee Zehmer. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. A private inurnment will be held preceding the service in the church columbarium.

Hun was born March 1, 1944 in Lexington to Benjamin Cabell Philpott, Jr. and Sara March Walser Philpott. She graduated from Lexington Senior High School and attended Greensboro College. Hun will be remembered as a wonderful and loving wife and mother and good friend to all she knew. She was a member of the Charity League of Lexington and enjoyed being among the cast in many of its plays that were performed for schoolchildren across the county. She was also a member of the Sorosis Book Club, the Lexington Garden Club, and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. She also served as a youth Sunday School teacher for First Presbyterian Church, loved travel, and was an avid reader her whole life. With a loving heart and keen sense of humor, Hun truly enjoyed life and sharing many good times with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert Fielding Lowe (Bob); son Robert Fielding Lowe, Jr. (Fielding) and wife Christine of Asheville; daughter Mary Cabell Lowe Edmundson (Cabell) and husband Joyner of Winston-Salem; grandchildren Jacob Philpott Lowe (Jacob), William Austin Lowe (Austin) of Asheville; Mary Lowe Edmundson (Mary Lowe), James Joyner Edmundson III (James) of Winston-Salem; sister Sara Philpott Lang (Sally) of Winston-Salem; sister-in-law Pearla Ann Revelle Lowe (Pearla Ann) of Raleigh and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292 or First Presbyterian Church, PO Box 586, Lexington NC 27293.
