Hunter Lanning

Hunter Lanning, 25, of Davidson County, passed away peacefully at his home, in the presence of his loving family.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington. A funeral will be held the following day, Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at Smith Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Smith officiating. Burial will conclude in the church cemetery.

Hunter was born on September 11, 2000, in Rowan County, to Woody Lanning and Lisa Eller Brewer.

Hunter was known by many as “Rabbit.” He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was a strong man of faith. He loved hunting, fishing, and golfing and was a dedicated fan of the Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees. Hunter also enjoyed cooking and grilling, especially ribeye’s and brisket, and one of his favorite places to eat was Stamey’s. He took pride in his work and truly loved his job.

Above everything, Hunter loved his wife, DeeAnnah, and the life they built together with their fur baby Molly.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, DeeAnnah Lanning, of the home; his father, Woody Lanning; his mother, Lisa Eller Brewer, and step-father, James Brewer; his father-in-law, Daniel Brantley (Amy); his mother-in-law, Kamra Langenberg; his fur baby, Molly; his sister, Harley Harris (Steven); his niece and nephew, Madison and Wyatt; his grandmother, Sandra “Nana” Lanning; and his grandfather, Kenny “Pap Lanning.” He was preceded in death by his Mamaw N and his cousin, Nikki.

The family would like to thank the staff of Pine Acres, the West Davidson community, and the Wake Forest Oncology Team for the care and support shown to Hunter and his family.

His family would also like to express how grateful and blessed they were by the love, care, and devotion, of his wife, DeeAnnah. She was always by his side, and he will always be in her heart.
