Ida Hedrick Kearns, 91, of Rockcrusher Rd., Lexington died Friday, July 13, 2012 at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 20, 2012 at Cotton Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Edgar L. Armfield, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends after the Graveside service.
Mrs. Kearns was born February 20, 1921 in Davidson County to Martin Erastus Hedrick and Nannie Myers Hedrick. Ida graduated from Southmont High School and retired from Link Taylor Furniture Company with 22 years of service. She was the oldest member of Cotton Grove United Methodist Church, where she served as treasure for 15 years, and was a member of the VFW Post 3074 Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 8 Ladies Auxiliary. Preceding her in death was her husband, Edgar Dermont Kearns, April 1994, five brothers, Raymond Hedrick, John Hedrick, Ollie Hedrick, Hubert Hedrick, Marvin Hedrick, and two sisters, Etta Tysinger and Florence Gallimore.
Surviving are a son, Dr. Randy Kearns of Durham; two grandchildren, Jousha David Kearns and Katherine Elizabeth Kearns.
